The Five Six In Tennessee Fundraiser!

I have been thinking about starting this fundraiser for a while and it is now live! Head on over and purchase your own The Five Six In Tennessee t-shirt with the custom design from the blog. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to one of mine and Jesse's favorite Tennessee State Parks to help support their seasonal park programs! Want to know a little bit more about what you are supporting?

Summer is prime time to enjoy all the great programs and family activities offered in Tennessee State Parks! They have a talented team of trained seasonal interpreters to help make your visit to the park memorable. State park interpreters help coordinate and lead many of the fun, interactive and educational programs for which Tennessee State Parks are known. These programs celebrate the natural, historical or cultural resources of each park and may include guided hikes, canoe floats, museum tours, owl prowls, slideshows, campfires, living history programs, Junior Ranger camps, nature craft workshops and outdoor skills demonstrations. If you have ever attended a state park program, chances are good it was the park interpreter who served as your leader and guide.

As you can see, these programs not only benefit our kiddos but they are for the whole family as well.

To learn more about the programs and activities being offered at a specific state park, visit the park's visitor center. In addition to being your first stop to register to camp or to check into your cabin or lodge room, the visitor center provides lots of opportunities to learn more about the particular park you are visiting. Many visitor centers are also nature and/or history centers offering exhibits and interpretive displays that bring the state park to life. Here you can begin to discover the beauty and history of Tennessee, and you may find that to visit Tennessee State Parks is more than just a vacation. It’s an adventure! Many parks will post their special summer events on the state park event calendar.

By buying a t-shirt, you are helping a park and supporting these programs and events. You never know, you may end up attending one that you helped support with your donation!
