While visiting Rock Island State Park, you may come across a tie dye Jackson Kayak hanging from a tree. If you do, that means you found the gem "The Happy Yaker" in Walling, TN.
Owned and operated by the Binkley's, The Happy Yaker family became a big part of the Rock Island community pretty quickly.
John and Leighsa says " this isn’t a paddle trip where we drop you off and pick you up down stream. You paddle at your on pace. The trip will start and end at the Rock Island State Park boat ramp area. No need to be shuttled. This is an excellent place for beginners to improve their skills. Seasoned kayakers will love it as well. Paddling along the high bluffs of the Caney Fork River Gorge will provide plenty of opportunities to see wildlife and waterfalls. We supply all the equipment needed to have a happy trip. Come on out and see us, we want everybody to
become a “Happy Yaker”.
Jesse and I have put in at the Rock Island State Park boat ramp (shown above) and paddled the Caney Fork River many times. Like John and Leighsa said, you do not have to be a expert kayaker to paddle here! I am a fan of calm, flat water so this place is absolutely perfect for me and I think you would enjoy it too.
Do you want to kayak the Caney Fork River but do not own a kayak? The Binkley's can help you with that! They have top of the line Jackson Rivera's, Rivera T's and Ibis kayaks that you can rent. They also just added the Coosa HD, Kilroy, and the brand new Mayfly available this season! The Happy Yaker is open for kayak rentals from 9:00am - 5:00pm Tuesday through Sunday.
John and Leighsa not only offer kayak rentals but lodging as well. They have Kottages that will make you feel like you're home even though you're away from home (they are very homey and welcoming).
Their two bedroom kottage is very cozy and It worked great for our little family of four. We rented it for the weekend during Ella's spring break last year and we all had a great time. We loved the kottage so much we didn't want to leave! If you spend a few days here, you will not want to leave either.
Just recently they added this cute one bedroom kottage rental. I can not wait for Jesse and to rent it for a relaxing weekend!
